For my master's course project in Games and Narrative, I developed a ten-minute interactive horror story with a branching narrative that immerses players in a mysterious and eerie world. The game, inspired by ‘Moder’ from "The Ritual", features a tragic beast that echoes the voices of fallen villagers. Set in a stormy, fog-enshrouded marshland, the narrative builds tension and suspense, as players must make critical choices that impact the story's outcome.

The narrative is crafted from a first-person point of view but written in the second person, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the protagonist's experiences and emotions. The protagonist, a mage, grapples with moral dilemmas and the dark history of their own faction, adding personal stakes to the story. Players will face difficult decisions witheach choice leading to different narrative branches and multiple endings.

Dialogue options are designed to provide realism and insight into the beast's past, with each choice contributing to the player's understanding of the tragic events that shaped the creature. The game's structure ensures that even 'bad' endings reveal crucial story elements, enhancing replayability and player engagement. Overall, this project blends horror, mystery, and emotional storytelling to create a deeply immersive and reflective interactive fiction experience.
