Context:

1930’s New York City letter set in a Lovecraftian game with a focus on atmospheric details and horror.

The Author:

● Professor D. from Miskatonic University
● Obsessed with his research of an unknown alien plant
● Was the one to hire a group of men to gather some samples from that plant
● Feels ill lately, and experiences symptoms of an unknown disease, probably caused by     the plant
● Informs that he cannot join the group and gives advice on how to collect the samples
● Doesn’t care about the safety of the group - the intact samples are more important

The Recipient:

● A man named Jon
● A leader of a group that was hired to gather plant samples
● A regular factory worker who has lost his job because of the flood
● Tried to get the payment ahead but Professor D. refused him

Letter:

Dear Jon,

I hope this letter finds you well. As for myself, I must admit that my recent research has taken a toll on both my physical and mental well-being. I find myself plagued by sleepless nights and feverish dreams, tormented by otherworldly visions and shadow figures that seem to be drawing ever closer. I am haunted by questions which have no answer, and by an-ever present sense of dread and unease.

These nightmares are a mere manifestation of my stress and exhaustion, yet nonetheless, I am in no state to travel, and I must therefore entrust your team with the task of collecting more samples from our alien plant specimen. Ensure that every precaution is taken to keep them air-sealed, for their spores are highly toxic, capable of causing death within minutes of exposure. Above all else, the integrity of the samples must be preserved, for they are paramount to my research.

Once the samples are safely in my possession, you will receive your payment, and this term is beyond negotiation. Be mindful that with the factory’s closure, your family’s well being depends on our partnership and our success.

I trust that you will not fail me,

Professor D.
